23 August 1997.
April came early to the newspaper world? The Daily Prophet staff have been snorting illegal substances? The world has gone mad... right that one doesn't work it was already sort of mad. Anyone else have a creative explanation? I am making a list. The person with the most creative explanation will win a pack of sugar quills, is that good incentive?

Also please disregard anything that may have been written in this journal over the previous summer months. It was not in my possession at the time. Thank you.

No Terry, this is not April Fools’.

I am aware of the fact - I'm collecting far fetched explanations. Do you have one?

Not really. I'm just hoping that it is some kind of misprint.

You won't make one up? That would be a really big misprint.

No because making something up would be ridiculous. Well that's easier to believe then they've all been taking drugs!

Not ridiculous. Entertaining.

Some loon got pissed on a bit of Firewhiskey and wrote the wonkiest Prophet article I've ever seen?

A perfectly plausible explanation. And so far you are winning the contest.

I like winning.

I think that Snape was actually fired from his position at Hogwarts, and so to get his revenge he is controlling the minds of the Prophet employees to state that he is the new Headmaster.

That actually makes more sense than the sudden explosion of drug habits among the Hogwarts staff theories. Bravo Miss Brown.

I'm not sure whether I should be happy or worried that my theory makes sense. I'm not sure that Snape being able to control minds is actually a good thing. BUT THANK YOU, NONE THE LESS!

I would just be happy and hope that you were wrong - perhaps he just bribed someone at the Prophet.

Oh I WILL be happy! You can be sure of that! See now that seems the most believable.

Well it just means that we already know the winner of any schooling event ever created; Slytherin. Oh bias is wonderful.

On the bright side points won't matter that much if we already know who's winning the house cup.

There is no explanation. Just pure madness... Though I'm going to try and pin it on Aliens.

Though about this disregard... That just might be a clever way to clean up the muck you said before. It was pretty colourful muck too.

If you can find a way to pin it on Aliens, Nessie, or Bigfoot I will love you forever or give you sugar quills, either one.

Umm but it is not a clever way to clean up anything so far as I know. What is this colourful muck of which you speak?

Didn't you hear? You-Know-Who is running an underground drug ring with The Daily Prophet now. I had no idea draino was so profitable.

So in this theory Snape is some sort of drug dealer and we'll all be forced to buy from him once we return to school? Get them addicted while they're young?

Exactly. Apparently it's a great form of mind control.

And remember, if he offers you any candy, just say no.

Brilliant theory. You should warn people about the sweets, then again I hand those out pretty freely so I may end up looking like a drug dealer.

Perhaps the Mad Hatter and the March Hare have taken hold of the Prophet?

The staff of the Daily Prophet have a history of being swayed to print bogus stories. I'd suggest subscribing to the Quibbler.

No guarantees, but if he is, they're obviously on his side now, aren't they? It's going to get worse before it gets better!
